Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho has apologised to Cardiff City players after an incident involving home fans during Portsmouth's 2-0 Championship win over Cardiff at Fratton Park. In the 72nd minute, Cardiff defender Krystian Bielik became involved in a physical altercation with a fan while attempting to retrieve a ball, with reports suggesting he was struck and grabbed around the upper body. Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy stated Bielik "got slapped in the face", while social media clips showed the Poland international grappling with a supporter.

Portsmouth fans made gestures indicating they believed the fan had been grabbed around the throat. Subsequently, another fan threw a ball at Cardiff defender Perry Ng's head, leading to both fans being ejected. Mousinho condemned the behaviour, stating it was "not a good incident" and that while a strong atmosphere is desired, it must not tip over into unacceptable conduct.

He extended apologies to the Cardiff players and staff, emphasising the need to eliminate such incidents moving forward.
