Lewis Ferguson has confirmed that a move away from Bologna was never close this summer, despite reported interest from Rangers. The midfielder, who is under contract until 2028 with an option for an additional year, has played every minute of Bologna's five Serie A games so far this season. His father, Derek, and uncle, Barry, both have strong ties to Rangers, with Barry having captained and managed the club at Ibrox.

In July, newly appointed Rangers manager Derek McInnes highlighted an 'obvious link' with Ferguson, having previously worked with him at Aberdeen. Ferguson, who grew up a fan of the club, said: 'It's no secret that I grew up a fan and my family is involved in the club. It was a dream of mine as a kid and that's not changed but I don't want to speak about that while I'm a player at Bologna.
