Francesco Farioli takes charge of Porto in the Champions League for the first time on Tuesday, facing Manchester City at the Estadio do Dragao. The 37-year-old manager led Porto to the Portuguese title last season after successful spells at Nice, Ajax, and in Turkey. Farioli began his career at Fatih Karagumruk and Alanyaspor before joining Roberto de Zerbi's backroom staff at Benevento in 2017.

He cites club president Andre Villas-Boas as a key reason for staying at Porto, rejecting interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Rangers. Porto have started the season with five wins out of five, conceding only one league goal. Farioli is known for building teams built on possession, structure, and aggressive pressing.
