International election observers will investigate suspected election fraud in Sweden. The OSCE's election monitoring body ODIHR previously assessed that Sweden did not need international observers before the election. Since then, several suspected election frauds have been reported.

ODIHR concluded in the spring that confidence in the Swedish electoral process was high and advised against international election monitoring. However, after the election, multiple suspected election-related crimes have been brought to light, including an investigation in Borlänge where three people are suspected of improper influence during voting, and cases of suspected vote buying in Piteå and Luleå.

The number of appeals of election results has also increased sharply, with nearly 10,000 appeals submitted so far, significantly more than in previous elections. ODIHR states that such events will be considered in future assessments of Swedish elections.

ODIHR's spokesperson Thomas Rymer said the organization would "of course review all events" that have occurred since its last visit when determining the need for international election observation in future Swedish elections. The delegation would examine all incidents that have taken place since the previous visit.
