Philadelphia Union's 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan scored in a third straight MLS game, breaking Freddy Adu's record for most goal contributions by a teenager in a season. Sullivan's clinical left-footed finish in the 75th minute helped Philadelphia secure a 2-0 win against CF Montréal. The goal gave him 11 goal contributions in 2026, surpassing Adu's 2005 mark.

Sullivan also became the youngest MLS player with a goal contribution in five straight matches. He celebrated by mimicking Le Bron James' chalk toss. Across all competitions, Sullivan has seven goals and 11 assists in 27 appearances.

Two years ago, he became the youngest player to appear for an MLS team at 14 years, 293 days. Philadelphia signed him to the largest homegrown contract in MLS history, with a deal to transfer him to Manchester City when he turns 18. Like Adu, Sullivan is attracting attention as a potential U.S. men's national team star.
