Former TCU safety Jacob Fields was arrested Sunday on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury after allegedly punching teammate Dozie Ezukanma in a Aug. 13 locker room altercation. Fields, who turned himself in, is being held at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas, and is expected to be released on bond. The incident occurred days after Fields was dismissed from the Horned Frogs.

In a removed Instagram video, Ezukanma alleged Fields "sucker punched" him, causing him to knock unconscious. Ezukanma did not travel with TCU for their game in Dublin, Ireland. TCU coach Sonny Dykes acknowledged the incident was "out of character" but emphasized the need to move forward.

Fields, a transfer from Louisiana Tech, was Conference USA Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2025, leading the program with 92 tackles. He was expected to replace Bud Clark at safety for TCU.
