The trio is betting they can resurrect the data-driven spirit of their former venture under Crooked Media, the progressive company founded by Obama veterans. Their goal is to produce a nonpartisan, empirical program covering the 2026 midterms, artificial intelligence, and prediction markets. Despite Crooked Media's progressive leanings, Lucinda Treat, the CEO, emphasized a commitment to fact-based critical information, ensuring the hosts' comfort with the nonpartisan format.

The new show comes as FiveThirtyEight, previously owned by The New York Times, ESPN, and ABC News, was shuttered by Disney in early 2025. Mr. Silver, who departed in 2023, cited his successful Substack, Silver Bulletin, with over 320,000 subscribers, as proof the brand could thrive independently. The hosts previously experimented with live shows at New York's Comedy Cellar, which sold out, signaling enduring audience appetite. "Still Counting" will release weekly, with an introductory episode on Wednesday and the first full episode the following Wednesday. The podcast will blend polling analysis with explorations of AI and betting markets, aiming to appeal to the "election nerd" community. Mr. Druke noted increased skepticism around data today, stressing the importance of smart observation over dismissing polling outright.
