Longi Green Energy Technology Co. joined other Chinese solar producers in reporting a first-half loss that widened from a year earlier, underscoring a downturn in the sector that has lasted for more than two years.

The Longi loss deepened as the company faced falling prices and oversupply in the global solar market, which has plagued manufacturers across China for over two years.

Industry analysts expect the slump to persist through the remainder of the year, with little relief visible on the demand side.

The company did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment.
