Apple announced that its recently acquired Pixelmator Pro will arrive on the iPad later this year, bringing the full‑desktop editing suite to a touch‑first interface. The new version adds a re‑engineered workspace, native Apple Pencil support—including pressure, hover, squeeze and double‑tap gestures—and seamless project continuity between iPad and Mac. Compatibility is limited to iPad models powered by the A16, A17 Pro or M1 chips running iPadOS 26 or later.

Feature set mirrors the Mac app: a layers sidebar, smart selection tools, bitmap and vector masks, Super Resolution upscaling, Deband artifact removal, and Auto Crop with composition suggestions. Apple bundles the iPad and Mac editions into the Apple Creator Studio subscription, priced at $12.99 per month or $129 annually, while a one‑time $49.99 purchase remains available. Some AI‑driven tools will be exclusive to subscribers.

The move expands Apple’s creative ecosystem, giving professionals a portable alternative to desktop‑only workflows and reinforcing the company’s strategy of integrating its recent acquisitions into a unified subscription model.
