Apple is preparing to launch new MacBook Pro models featuring the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips as early as Monday, March 2, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The release is tied to the launch of macOS Tahoe 26.3, with Gurman noting that current M4 Pro and M4 Max models remain in short supply, suggesting the new models are imminent.

In his latest "Power On" newsletter, Gurman indicated that the timing aligns with Apple's typical spring refresh cycle. The upcoming MacBook Pro refresh comes amid broader Mac product updates planned for 2026, including overhauled MacBook Pro models with OLED displays and touch support that are expected to be the year's most significant Mac launch.

Updated Mac Studio models are expected to follow the MacBook Pro refresh "not too long after," while new Mac mini and Studio Display products remain on Apple's roadmap. The company is also planning an all-new low-cost MacBook powered by an iPhone chip, expanding Apple's silicon strategy across its product lineup.

While the M5-powered MacBook Pro models arriving in March will use existing chassis designs, the more substantial redesign with OLED technology is reportedly targeted for early 2027. This staged approach allows Apple to update its professional laptop lineup with enhanced performance while saving the major industrial design changes for next year's models.
