Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new smart home hub between October and early next year, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. This device is envisioned for placement in various rooms and is expected to feature Siri AI as a core component. It will combine a HomePod-like speaker with a 7-inch display and run a new operating system derived from tvOS, incorporating elements of watchOS and iOS.

The hub aims to offer personalized information through facial recognition, adapting interface elements based on user proximity. It will also support features like FaceTime video calls, home security monitoring, HomeKit accessory management, photo galleries, music playback, and an intercom system for multi-device households.

Apple is also reportedly developing an advanced in-home security camera to compete with products like Amazon's Ring. This new home hub, potentially available in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, suggests Apple anticipates customers purchasing multiple units.
