Apple's foldable "iPhone Ultra" could face a staggered country-by-country rollout similar to the Vision Pro, according to an Australian publication. Initial availability may be limited to the U.S. market, with key regions like China following two to three months later, due to supply setbacks and pricing issues.

Sources claim Apple is experiencing testing issues with production models, and local carriers have confirmed the device won't be available when iPhone 18 Pro models launch in September. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously stated the iPhone Ultra would unveil alongside iPhone 18 Pro models but with delayed pre-orders due to manufacturing challenges.

The staggered launch mirrors Vision Pro's February 2024 debut, which began in the U.S. before expanding to China, Japan, and Singapore in June. Apple reportedly raised foldable iPhone Ultra orders to 10 million units—far below Kuo's 20-22 million forecast for iPhone 18 Pro models. With only 7-8 million units expected in 2026, Apple may struggle to stock 40+ countries at launch.

The iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a 7.7-7.8 inch inner display, 5.5-inch cover screen, 4.5mm thickness, and a starting price above $2,000. Apple's event is likely scheduled for September 8 or 9, 2026.
