iPhone 18 Gains 12GB RAM for AI‑Powered Siri Without Price Rise

Apple plans to equip the base iPhone 18 with 12GB of RAM, a jump needed to run its most advanced on‑device AI model unveiled at WWDC 2026. The extra memory will enable richer Siri voices and markedly better dictation accuracy, features previously limited to the iPhone Air and 17 Pro lineups.

South Korea's KB Securities reports Apple has asked LPDDR5X suppliers to boost chip output, keeping the price tag flat despite higher component costs. The firm says Apple will continue purchasing DRAM from Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron at above‑market rates, absorbing the expense rather than passing it to buyers.

The memory bump brings the entire iPhone 18 family to parity, ending the 8GB limitation that left the iPhone 17 behind. Pro and Pro Max variants, along with a foldable model, are slated for a fall 2026 launch, while the standard iPhone 18 and its Air‑style sibling arrive in early 2027.
