iPhone 18 Downgrade Confirmed With Shared Parts

According to leaker Fixed Focus Digital, Apple is reportedly downgrading the standard iPhone 18 and enabling component sharing with the lower-cost iPhone 18e model. The Weibo-based source claims manufacturing parts are now interchangeable between these devices, suggesting Apple is narrowing the specification gap as a cost-cutting measure.

The leaker asserts the iPhone 18 launch has been delayed to spring 2027 rather than alongside Pro models in fall. This would make September-October Apple's "flagship season" with the Pro, Pro Max, and foldable iPhone Ultra models. Component overlap aligns with engineering validation testing happening simultaneously for both models in June.

Currently, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e maintain significant differences with features like Dynamic Island, ProMotion displays, and camera capabilities potentially disappearing in the next generation. If the rumored downgrades and component sharing materialize, the distinction between Apple's standard and budget models could fundamentally change how consumers approach iPhone purchases.
