Apple's upcoming iOS 27 introduces significant AI enhancements to Calendar and Reminders apps. Users can now create events through natural language commands like "Movies with Sarah at 8pm on Thursday" without navigating to specific dates. The system intelligently interprets context and suggests relevant times, while also supporting recurring events with simple phrasing like "every week."

The updated Calendar app simplifies event editing, automatically adjusting recurring event frequencies when modified. Visual Intelligence integration automatically extracts event information from screenshots or photos of flyers, populating the Calendar app seamlessly. Siri also gains enhanced capabilities to understand and add events through natural language requests, streamlining schedule management across Apple's ecosystem.

Currently limited to developers, iOS 27 will reach public beta in July. This release comes approximately one month after Google previewed Android 17 with its "Gemini Intelligence" features, positioning Apple's AI enhancements as a direct response to growing competition in the mobile AI space. The Calendar and Reminders updates represent Apple's broader strategy to integrate AI more deeply into everyday productivity applications.
