iOS 27 Calendar and Reminders Get Practical Apple Intelligence Updates

Apple's iOS 27 brings modest but useful refinements to Calendar and Reminders, focusing on natural language input and smarter Siri integration. Both apps maintain their familiar interface while gaining Apple Intelligence features that parse dates, times, and locations from typed descriptions, making event creation more conversational.

Calendar's natural language feature requires manual date selection via keyboard suggestions rather than automatic parsing, falling short of apps like Fantastical. Reminders handles natural language better, automatically filling metadata for entries like grocery runs or timed tasks, though the beta feature remains inconsistent. Both apps now support extra-large widgets spanning full home screen pages.

Siri gains substantial calendar control, creating and editing events with natural language requests while pulling information from Mail and Messages. Visual Intelligence enables photographing schedules to bulk-add events, and holiday-aware alarms prompt users to adjust wake-up times before observed holidays. The redesigned Reminders interface removes the bottom menu bar in favor of a Details view.

These changes require iPhone 15 Pro or newer hardware to access Apple Intelligence capabilities, limiting adoption to recent devices. While not revolutionary, the updates streamline common workflows for users managing busy schedules through Apple's ecosystem.
