The foldable adopts a passport-style form factor with a 4.5mm titanium frame and 4:3 aspect ratio. Its 7.8-inch inner OLED display opens to just slightly smaller than an iPad mini, while a 5.5-inch outer screen handles quick tasks. Notable departures from current iPhones include Touch ID replacing Face ID, volume buttons shifted to the top edge, and no Action Button present.

Design refinements visible in these latest images include an edge-to-edge curved cover display and repositioned camera modules. The rear horizontal camera plateau houses a flash below the microphone, which features a distinctive five-hole design. Meanwhile, the inner display's front camera sits in the top left corner, likely impacting how Dynamic Island functions on the flexible screen.

Apple's restrained color approach aligns with previous premium launches like the Apple Watch Ultra and Vision Pro, both of which debuted in single finishes. The foldable iPhone should arrive this September alongside iPhone 18 Pro models, with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reporting a starting price that will exceed $2,000, positioning it as Apple's most expensive smartphone to date.
