DuckDuckGo Launches AI Voice Chat on Duck.ai With Zero Audio Retention

DuckDuckGo has introduced AI voice chat to its private Duck.ai chatbot platform, emphasizing zero audio retention and no training data usage. The service uses OpenAI's LLMs for conversations, streamed via an encrypted relay. Crucially, neither DuckDuckGo nor OpenAI stores any audio after sessions end, and the company states audio is never used to train AI models.

Users can disable voice chat anytime through settings. The feature works in most browsers except Firefox, which is pending support. Voice chat is free with daily limits, while subscribers ($10/month) gain higher limits plus DuckDuckGo VPN and identity services.

This move positions Duck.ai as a privacy-focused alternative to mainstream voice assistants.
