Apple today released Xcode 26.3, bringing AI agent support to its flagship development tool. After several weeks of testing, the update allows developers to use tools like Anthropic's Claude Agent and OpenAI's Codex directly within Xcode for app creation.

With agentic coding capabilities, Xcode can now autonomously complete complex development tasks. Apple collaborated with Anthropic and OpenAI to configure their agents for Xcode, ensuring AI models can access the full range of Xcode features including file creation, code examination, project building, and testing.

Agents can also take image snapshots to verify their work and access Apple's comprehensive developer documentation. Beyond OpenAI and Anthropic models, Xcode 26.3 supports any agent using the open standard Model Context Protocol. The update is available now for download from Apple's developer website.
