Apple Watch Series 12 Fitness Tracking Upgrades Minor Changes

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's new Watch models will feature fitness tracking upgrades. Gurman characterized this year's lineup changes as "minor," noting faster performance and better health tracking in the absence of a design overhaul. Earlier in July, Gurman echoed similar sentiments, highlighting improvements without major aesthetic shifts. While rumors previously suggested Touch ID integration, Gurman does not expect the Series 12 or Ultra 4 to feature significant design changes compared to current models. The ceramic case option may return this year or in 2027, but overall expectations remain modest for the upcoming generation.

Apple is also re-evaluating the Watch lineup, considering radical new designs including a round model and screenless fitness tracker. Gurman compared potential future evolution to the "revolutionary design change" of a foldable iPhone. Despite these conceptual plans, the immediate focus remains on incremental performance and health sensor improvements rather than transformative hardware shifts.
