Apple today announced the next-generation Mac mini, configurable with an all-new M6 chip or the M5 Pro chip released earlier this year. The M6 chip features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, up from 10-core in the M5, plus the first-ever dual Neural Engine with two 16-core engines. Apple claims up to 40% faster CPU performance, 4× faster AI tasks, 2× faster graphics, and 2× faster storage versus the previous M4 model. The M6 offers up to 170GB/s memory bandwidth. Two M5 Pro configurations are available: 15-core CPU/16-core GPU or 18-core CPU/20-core GPU, each with a single 16-core Neural Engine. M6 models support up to 2TB SSD and 32GB RAM; M5 Pro models go up to 8TB SSD and 64GB RAM.

All models include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, retaining the same silver design with two front USB-C ports, headphone jack, three rear Thunderbolt ports, HDMI, and Ethernet — now 2.5 Gigabit standard (10-Gigabit optional). M6 uses Thunderbolt 4; M5 Pro uses Thunderbolt 5. All support up to three external displays.

Pre-orders begin today with availability Tuesday, September 22. U.S. pricing starts at $899 for M6 and $1,699 for M5 Pro.
