Apple today released new beta firmware for the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4, AirPods 5, and AirPods Max 2. The firmware has a build number of 9B5043a and is rolling out to developers and public beta testers.
Apple has not said what the update includes, since it does not provide release notes for AirPods beta releases. Users with an iPhone, iPad, or Mac running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS 26 or later can find the beta firmware option in the AirPods settings interface. Turning on beta updates lets them install the firmware.
To get the update, connect the AirPods to an Apple device and plug them into power. Installation can take a few hours, because AirPods have no software update option like other Apple devices do.
The update arrives as Apple continues to refine its AirPods lineup, with the AirPods 5 and other models all receiving the same beta build.
