Apple seeded the third developer betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 today, two weeks after the previous release. Registered developers can install the updates through Settings > General > Software Update on compatible iPhones and iPads.

The headline addition is Siri AI, a ChatGPT-style chatbot that draws on general knowledge, personal data from Messages and Mail, and onscreen context to answer questions. Apple Intelligence expands across Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, Wallet, and Passwords, while a new standalone Siri app archives conversations. Write with Siri now works systemwide for text generation and editing feedback, and Visual Intelligence has moved into the Camera app with a dedicated Siri mode.

Interface refinements include a transparency slider for Liquid Glass materials. Performance gains appear substantial: apps launch faster, AirDrop transfers complete quicker, the keyboard appears more responsively, and Wi-Fi-to-cellular handoffs improve. Apple says these speedups extend to older iPhone models.

This beta cycle signals Apple prioritizing AI integration depth over breadth, positioning Siri AI as the core interface for Apple Intelligence. The performance focus suggests the company is optimizing for its installed base rather than requiring new hardware, a pragmatic approach that could accelerate adoption when the public release arrives this fall.
