Ads in Apple Maps are live in the United States and Canada, which means iPhone and iPad users will see them when searching for locations and viewing Suggested Places. Apple announced plans to bring ads to the Maps app in March, with rollout starting in late summer. Apple confirmed to 9to5Mac that ads began showing up over the last few days, with placement ramping up in the coming weeks.

Ads appear at the top of search results, one per set, and are labeled with a blue "Ad" tag. There is no option to turn off ads in the Maps app. Apple states that ad interactions are not linked to Apple Accounts and data is not shared with third parties.

Businesses could purchase ad slots starting in August, receiving a 15 percent credit toward future ad spend. Prohibited ad categories include home services, bail bonds, and cryptocurrency ATMs, while medical service ads are evaluated case-by-case. All ads must comply with Apple's broader advertising policies.
