Apple has revealed iOS 26 adoption statistics showing 79% of all iPhones were running the operating system before WWDC 2026. The data, collected from devices that transacted on the App Store on June 7, indicates strong adoption across Apple's ecosystem with 86% of recent iPhones and 79% of recent iPads on the latest software.

These figures mark Apple's final official measurement of iOS 26 adoption as iOS 27 beta testing has begun. Compared to iOS 18 adoption numbers from June 2025, iOS 26 shows slightly lower adoption rates across all categories. The iPhone adoption decreased from 82% to 79%, while iPad rates dropped from 71% to 68% for all devices.

The adoption metrics provide insights into Apple's software ecosystem health and user upgrade patterns. With iOS 27 developer beta now available, the company will shift focus to tracking the next generation's adoption rates. The data reflects how quickly users embrace new Apple software updates and which segments of the user base upgrade most readily.
