Apple Home Hub Widget Gallery Revealed

Apple is developing a home hub featuring Siri AI, potentially launching this year. The device, codenamed J490, includes a Widget Gallery allowing users to customize the home screen with various content.

References to the Widget Gallery were discovered in macOS Tahoe 26.7, embedded within a file called PosterKit-J490. PosterKit is Apple's framework for Lock Screen customization, suggesting the hub's home screen will support icons, widgets, and clock faces similar to existing Apple devices.

Widgets installed on a linked iPhone will be suggested on the home hub, mirroring information from the iPhone. Third-party app widgets may also be supported alongside Apple's own apps. While all household users can see installed widgets, content visibility is restricted when the primary linked device is absent for privacy protection.

A Smart Stack will automatically rotate through widgets throughout the day, with manual flipping between options. The hub supports Apple apps like Safari, Apple Music, and Home, but lacks its own App Store. Code hints at a Face Gallery for clock customization and HomeKit integration. The device is expected to feature a 7-inch square display, mountable or tabletop, with more details available in Apple's Command Center guide.
