Apple used its WWDC 2026 keynote to preview extensive software updates across its entire ecosystem, revealing more than 250 individual changes coming to iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and other platforms. The company flashed a slide during the presentation showing the breadth of updates, which are now available as developer betas ahead of public releases this fall.

iOS 27 brings smoother performance throughout the system, including faster Voice Control responses, enhanced Safari power efficiency, and seamless transitions between Wi-Fi and cellular networks. iPadOS 27 adds extra-large widgets, iPhone app resizing capabilities, and a persistent menu bar option. macOS Golden Gate introduces edge-to-edge sidebars, colorful sidebar icons, and support for 5K Mac mirroring while improving Spotlight search relevance and Safari scrolling performance.

The watchOS 27 update focuses on battery efficiency and accuracy improvements, adding better step tracking and water detection alongside Apple Wallet guest keys. visionOS 27 enables panoramas as Environments and adds curved windows, while tvOS 27 features faster AirPlay connections and a redesigned Podcasts app. Photos gains extensive sharing improvements with full-resolution iCloud Shared Albums and Android/Windows participation.

All five operating system updates are available in developer beta form now, with Apple targeting September for general availability. This represents one of the most comprehensive feature roll-outs in recent memory, touching virtually every aspect of Apple's software platforms simultaneously.
