Apple has canceled plans for a foldable MacBook and a larger OLED MacBook Pro model, according to research firm Omdia. The foldable MacBook would have measured between 16.1 and 18 inches when unfolded and was previously delayed from a 2026 production window. Apple has also scrapped a separate OLED MacBook with a display size between 14.4 and 16.1 inches, which would have filled a tier between standard MacBook Pro models and the canceled foldable.

With both products canceled, the 14.3 to 16.3 inch range remains exclusive to the MacBook Pro series. Omdia noted Apple’s broader OLED strategy for iPad and MacBook lineups is unchanged, but the company has reworked which products get OLED and the specific technology used. As part of this shift, Apple is adding a new 13.8 inch OLED MacBook positioned between the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, using LTPO+ backplane, under-panel camera, and color-filter-on-encapsulation technology.

The 14.3- and 16.3-inch MacBook Pro OLED models, also called MacBook Ultra, are expected in the second half of 2026 or early 2027. Omdia confirmed Apple will not discontinue existing mini-LED MacBook Pro models in those sizes, with both display types expected to sell in parallel until at least 2028.
