Microsoft has begun rolling out Xbox Mode to Windows 11 PCs in select markets. The new feature brings a console-inspired gaming experience to desktops, laptops, and tablets, promising easier game access with a controller-optimized full-screen interface. Microsoft developed this feature based on player feedback from its earlier implementation on Windows handhelds, where it was known as the "full screen experience."

Xbox Mode offers a streamlined interface that puts players' libraries and recently played titles within easy reach. Gamers can browse and launch titles using just their controller, with access to an aggregated library including Xbox Game Pass and games from other PC storefronts. The system allows seamless switching between Xbox Mode and the standard Windows 11 desktop environment, minimizing background distractions during gameplay.

To access Xbox Mode, users need to enable "Get the latest updates as soon as they are available" in Settings > Windows Update. Microsoft warns the feature rollout is gradual, expanding over several weeks. Not all Windows 11 devices will receive the feature immediately as Microsoft continues its phased deployment strategy to ensure stability across different hardware configurations.
