Yesterday, tipster Digital Chat Station claimed the latest engineering sample of the vivo X500 Ultra featured a new 200MP camera with a 1/1.2-inch sensor. In a new Weibo post, DCS shared that the vivo X500 Ultra engineering sample uses a 50MP Sony LYT910 sensor paired with a 35mm lens. While this hasn't been confirmed, the tipster could be referring to Sony's 1/1.28-inch Lytia L910 LOFIC sensor, unveiled in June this year.
The 50MP sensor offers a dynamic range of 100dB and supports 4K HDR video recording at 60fps. If the rumor is accurate, the 50MP main camera seems like a downgrade on paper from the 200MP 1/1.12-inch sensor on the vivo X300 Ultra. However, the difference in real-world image quality may not be as significant.
The vivo X500 Ultra camera configuration remains a key point of discussion among tech enthusiasts awaiting official confirmation from the manufacturer.
