vivo V80 Series Mid-August Launch Tipped With 7,200mAh Battery

A leak on X suggests the vivo V80 series will debut in mid-August, just months after the V70's release. The standard model is tipped to feature a 6.59-inch flat display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution, maintaining the flat-panel design vivo has favored for its mid-range lineup.

Under the hood, the phone reportedly retains the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset from its predecessor but pairs it with a substantially larger 7,200mAh battery supporting 90W fast charging — a notable capacity jump for this segment. The camera array mirrors the V70: a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultrawide, alongside a 50MP front-facing shooter.

Build upgrades include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, an aluminum alloy frame, and an IP69 rating for high-pressure water resistance. If accurate, the V80 would be among the first mid-range devices to offer IP69 certification, typically reserved for flagships.

The rapid refresh cycle — roughly six months after the V70 — signals vivo's aggressive push in the sub-flagship tier. A 7,200mAh cell with 90W charging could reset battery expectations at this price point, while IP69 durability adds practical value. The unchanged processor suggests vivo is optimizing around a known platform rather than chasing generational silicon gains.
