Vivo has officially confirmed three devices in its upcoming X500 family, including the X500, X500 Pro, and X500e. The announcement follows the October 2023 launch of the X300 and X300 Pro, with the new lineup expected to debut around the same time this year—or possibly earlier. The confirmation comes from IMEI listings in the GSMA database, which reveal all three models are already in development.

The X500e remains shrouded in mystery, as no X300e counterpart exists. Speculation suggests it could be a budget variant or a niche device tailored for specific markets. Meanwhile, leaks indicate the flagship X500 Pro may feature a 6.9-inch display and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, while the standard X500 could sport a 6.4-inch screen. Both devices are rumored to include 7,000+ mAh batteries, emphasizing vivo’s focus on battery life.

Notably, vivo skipped the X400 branding entirely, citing tetraphobia—a cultural aversion to the number four in some Asian markets. This strategic move aligns with the company’s pattern of renaming devices to avoid the digit. The X500 series will directly succeed the X300 lineup, positioning vivo to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S24 and Xiaomi’s Redmi K60 series.

With the X300 Pro starting at €847 and €1,189 for higher tiers, the X500 lineup is expected to maintain similar pricing. The inclusion of 50MP LOFIC main cameras and potential 200MP telephoto upgrades signals vivo’s push toward advanced imaging technology. Analysts suggest these specs could disrupt mid-range smartphone markets, particularly in Europe and Southeast Asia.
