Samsung May End Galaxy Z Flip Line

Samsung is reportedly planning to discontinue its Galaxy Z Flip foldable phone lineup, with the Galaxy Z Flip8 potentially being the final model. This speculation, previously dismissed, now appears more plausible due to several market factors.

Rising component costs, particularly for RAM, are increasing smartphone prices, as seen with Motorola's Razr 70 and 70 Ultra. This makes it harder for manufacturers to offer competitive pricing on foldables.

Furthermore, the clamshell foldable market in Western regions has shrunk significantly. Brands like Oppo, Xiaomi, vivo, and Honor have either pulled their flip foldables from Europe and the US or never sold them there. This leaves Samsung and Motorola as the primary players in this niche segment. While a full discontinuation is uncertain, the Flip8 series might face a pause instead.
