Xiaomi's global Redmi Note 17 family is here, and we're focusing on the two non-Pro models: the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 5G. These nearly identical phones differ primarily in their chipset and 5G capability. The Redmi Note 17 uses a 6nm Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 with up to 8GB RAM and 4G support.

The Redmi Note 17 5G uses a newer, 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 5G connectivity. Both phones prioritize large batteries and displays, featuring a near-7-inch 120Hz 1080p AMOLED screen protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, with an in-display fingerprint reader. Each packs a 7,700mAh Silicon-carbon (Si-C) battery supporting 45W charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

Compared to their predecessors, the increased screen size and battery capacity make these models significantly heavier. The 4G model weighs 224 grams (40g more), and the 5G model is 225 grams (almost 50g more). The rest of the specs are identical: a single rear 50MP f/1.8 camera, a 16MP selfie shooter, IP65 rating, and Hyper OS 3 with 6 years of security support.

The Redmi Note 17 starts at $250 with configurations up to 8/256GB, while the 5G model starts at $300 with 6/128GB, 6/256GB, and 8/256GB options. Both support microSD expansion.
