Redmi's upcoming K100 Pro Max is now rumored to use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC as its 2025 predecessor, sparking concerns over pricing.

The device is reportedly set to launch at CNY 4,000 ($585), a steep increase from the K90 Pro Max's 2024 debut at CNY 3,199 ($467) despite no SoC upgrade. Previous rumors suggested a starting price of CNY 5,000 ($731), leaving the final cost unclear.

The price hike is tied to a RAM shortage driven by AI data centers consuming most production capacity. Until production capacity expands or the AI market cools, smartphone prices are likely to stay elevated.
