Realme 16x gets Indian certification, confirming launch

Realme has secured Bureau of Indian Standards certification for its upcoming Realme 16x, confirming the leak from last month was genuine. The device carries the model number RMX5270, a designation that will appear on packaging and regulatory filings. BIS approval means the phone can now enter the Indian market, clearing the final regulatory hurdle before launch officially.

The certification dossier didn’t reveal hardware specs, but the earlier leak suggested three configurations: 4 GB RAM/128 GB storage, 6 GB RAM/128 GB, and 6 GB RAM/256 GB. Buyers will choose between Endurance Brown and Glory White finishes. Positioned as the successor to the October‑released Realme 15x, the 16x joins the existing Realme 16, 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ lineup, expanding the brand’s mid‑range 5G portfolio.

With India representing a key growth market for budget 5G phones, the 16x’s arrival could pressure rivals to refresh their own offerings. Consumers familiar with the 15x’s design will likely expect incremental upgrades rather than a full redesign. Realme’s strategy of layering multiple variants under the “16” banner aims to capture a broad price spectrum, and BIS clearance confirms the rollout is imminent.
