Qualcomm unveiled its next‑generation XR chipset, the Snapdragon Reality Elite, targeting immersive spatial computing. The new platform promises to power both all‑in‑one video‑see‑through headsets and lightweight tethered optical‑see‑through devices. By integrating advanced on‑device AI, the Elite aims to redefine how virtual and mixed‑reality content feels and performs for developers, gamers, and enterprise users today.

Inside the chip sits up to 48 TOPS of AI processing, unlocking large language and vision models that generate more natural, responsive spatial interactions. Qualcomm also reports a 20% boost in battery life under identical workloads, while keeping devices up to 12 °C cooler than the previous XR2+ Gen 2. These gains translate into longer, comfortable sessions today.

Display power grows too: the Elite supports 4.4K per eye at 90 FPS, delivering sharper detail, richer color, and smoother motion. Vision‑block IP hardening, notably the EVA block, reduces latency and sharpens virtual‑physical blending, ensuring content feels natural. These enhancements aim to satisfy the growing 60 million‑device XR market across gaming, training, and enterprise sectors for today.

Qualcomm plans the Elite first in XREAL Project Aura, slated for later this year, and in Play for Dream’s next‑gen devices. Senior VP Ziad Asghar notes that higher‑performance, AI‑rich XR platforms meet rising demand for longer, smarter experiences. With these gains, Qualcomm reasserts its leadership in VR and MR chipsets built from the ground up.
