New evidence suggests the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a main camera with a variable aperture. This information emerged from internal company files reportedly leaked after a ransomware attack on Tata Electronics, an Apple partner in India.

A diagnostics log found within these files confirms the variable aperture capability for the main camera. The log also indicates the use of a new sensor for these models, identified as Sony's IMX905. While the pixel size remains at 1.22μm, similar to its predecessor, the variable aperture is a notable addition. Other cameras, including the telephoto, ultrawide, LiDAR, and selfie cameras, are expected to remain unchanged from the iPhone 17 Pro generation.

Furthermore, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are anticipated to see price increases, potentially up to $200, attributed to the ongoing memory chip shortage and rising component costs. These new models are expected to be unveiled in September, alongside a rumored iPhone Ultra.
