Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e next spring, according to analyst Ming‑Chi Kuo. Both models reportedly ship with 9GB RAM, a departure from the iPhone 17’s 8GB configuration. The memory uses six 1.5 GB dies rather than four 2 GB dies, a quirky but measurable bump aimed at smoothing Apple Intelligence tasks. The upgrade also aligns with Apple’s push to integrate on‑device AI processing.

The mid‑range line will run on the A20 chip, while the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and Ultra variants receive the upgraded A20 Pro and 12 GB of RAM. That places the flagship trio ahead of competitors in raw memory capacity, but the modest increase for the base models may not sway power users accustomed to larger buffers.

Industry watchers see the RAM lift as Apple’s answer to Android flagships that have been outpacing iOS devices in multitasking performance. By allocating extra memory without a major architecture shift, Apple can market smoother AI features while keeping the iPhone 18 line price‑competitive. Consumers will notice a snappier experience, especially in AI‑driven apps, confirming Apple’s incremental yet strategic hardware tweaks.
