During today’s Robot Phone keynote, Honor unveiled a teaser for its upcoming Magic9 series and officially confirmed a September launch, arriving a month ahead of last year’s Magic8 series.

The teaser reveals an off‑center camera module positioned in the corner, with a distinctive knurling pattern on the sensor ring that echoes the design of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition. One of the lenses is a 200MP shooter equipped with a 1/1.4" sensor and optical image stabilization. An Arri logo is also present, reflecting the strategic partnership announced earlier this summer. The design cues, including the knurling, suggest a focus on premium texture and ergonomics, similar to the tactile feedback seen on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition. It is unclear whether the ring will rotate or incorporate additional camera controls, and whether the previous Magic8 Pro’s 200MP periscope offering 3.7x optical zoom will be retained in the new model.

Honor emphasized that the Magic9 series will carry forward Robot Phone’s advanced video capabilities, delivering native Log‑C3 video encoding, LUT color grading, and a dedicated cinema mode that replicates the aesthetic of Arri cinema cameras. These video tools enable users to capture footage that can be graded in post‑production using industry‑standard workflows, thanks to the integrated LUTs and Log‑C3 profile.

The earlier September timing, combined with high‑resolution imaging hardware and cinema‑focused software, positions the Magic9 series as a strong contender in the premium segment, leveraging both cutting‑edge optics and robust creative tools.
