Google started deploying Wear OS 7 to compatible Pixel Watch devices as part of the Android 17 stable rollout. The patch covers Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3 and the newest Pixel Watch 4, delivering a refreshed UI and under‑the‑hood optimizations. Google claims the new software can boost battery endurance by up to 10%, addressing one of the platform’s longstanding criticisms.

Among the additions, Live Updates pushes real‑time data from supported apps straight to the wrist, while a unified media controller lets users play, pause or skip tracks across any paired device. Google also confirmed that Wear OS 7 will act as a control hub for its upcoming Android XR smart glasses, a joint effort with Samsung.

The Gemini Intelligence suite teased last month will trickle onto select Pixel Watch models later this year, expanding AI‑driven insights on the wrist. For consumers, the battery bump and tighter integration with future wearables could make the Pixel Watch line more competitive against rivals like Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch, solidifying Google’s foothold in the smartwatch market. It also adds new watch‑face complications for power users.
