A Google Pixel Watch 5 prototype surfaced in the Atlantic Ocean near St. Martin, offering an early look at the unreleased smartwatch. Gearbox Software co-founder Randy Pitchford found the device during a scuba diving session and shared photos showing the wearable still powered on despite water exposure.

The front of the Pixel Watch 5 appears identical to its predecessor, while the back reveals several key specifications. Most notably, the device bears IP68 ingress protection marking, which clearly kept the salt water from damaging internal components. The watch also displays a 45mm size designation, matching the larger Pixel Watch 4 variant.

Sensor capabilities include heart rate monitoring, UWB connectivity, pulse detection, SpO2 tracking, and skin temperature measurement. These health-focused features suggest Google is maintaining its emphasis on fitness and wellness functionality for the next-generation wearable.

Perhaps the most significant revelation is the potential shift to a custom Tensor chipset instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon processors used in previous models. This change could bring performance improvements and better integration with Google's ecosystem, though official details remain scarce until launch.
