Google has officially sent out invitations for a launch event in New York on September 15, where it will unveil the new Googlebooks along with a new Android-based operating system. First revealed in May, the Googlebooks lineup includes laptops from initial hardware partners such as Lenovo and Asus.

The upcoming OS, rumored to be called Aluminum OS, will be built on the Android technology stack, blending elements of both Chrome OS and Android. This means the new OS will use Android's native codebase while maintaining a closer relationship with Android functionality.

Google promises premium hardware across various shapes and sizes, all featuring a distinctive Glowbar design confirmed by recent visual leaks. The first wave of Googlebooks will be supported by major manufacturers including Asus, HP, Lenovo, and Dell.

The New York event will bring together media from around the world, offering journalists hands-on time with the devices, including benchmark testing and performance evaluations ahead of the official release.
