Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a new Sony sensor for its front-facing camera, according to tipster Ice Universe. While maintaining the 12MP resolution of its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the new sensor represents a shift from Samsung's own ISOCELL technology to Sony's imaging expertise.

The upgrade comes just days before Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, where the entire S26 series will be unveiled. The front camera specifications are expected to remain largely consistent with the previous model, including the 1/3.2-inch sensor size, 1.12µm pixel size, and f/2.2 aperture. However, the hole-punch cutout will be slightly larger to accommodate the new sensor.

Most notably, the selfie camera will offer an 85-degree field of view, providing a wider perspective for self-portraits and video calls. While the specific improvements from the Sony sensor remain unclear, the switch suggests Samsung is prioritizing enhanced image quality and low-light performance for its flagship device's front-facing camera.
