Apple reportedly aims to produce 10 million units of its first foldable iPhone, potentially named the iPhone Ultra, for a 2026 launch. This figure represents a significant increase from earlier production targets of 7 to 8 million units, indicating growing confidence in the new device category.

The device is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series this September. Alongside the foldable, Apple has also placed production orders for approximately 70 million units of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, bringing the total for the new lineup to around 220 million units.

This ambitious production plan suggests Apple sees substantial market potential for its foldable offering. The foldable iPhone is rumored to carry a premium price tag, with estimates ranging from $2,500 to $3,000 for higher storage configurations, positioning it as a luxury device.

Suppliers are also preparing for potential additional orders of up to 85 million units in the latter half of 2026. Apple's strategy includes reserving some iPhone 17 components for the upcoming iPhone 18 generation, hinting at component sharing and streamlined manufacturing.
