Google just dropped the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 update to eligible Pixel devices. In addition to squashing a few bugs, the new software introduces several appealing features. The most notable change is the integrated Quick Settings layout editor, giving users unprecedented control over their home screen.

With the editor you can rearrange nearly all toggles, enlarge specific tiles, and move the brightness slider or media player to any spot. The update also expands theming options, allowing you to slide the hue of the four main colors and add blur effects to the background. Users can also toggle system‑wide dark mode, customize icon sets, and enable gesture shortcuts.

Beyond visual tweaks, Android 17 adds call protection to prevent social engineering scams. When dialing a call‑forwarding number, the system presents additional confirmation dialogs, ensuring you’re not tricked into forwarding calls to malicious numbers.
