Amazon's upgraded Alexa+ AI chatbot is expanding to India, offering support for Hindi speakers. The company has begun inviting Indian users to participate in beta testing, sending emails with instructions to complete a Hindi-language form by June 22 to join the program. Beta participants will receive notifications when the testing experience launches.

Amazon confirmed the India rollout to TechCrunch but hasn't disclosed additional details. Since Alexa+ is beta software, users should expect potential bugs and occasional inaccuracies, including mispronunciations of local expressions. The company's standard warning about possible errors applies to this early version.

The original Alexa launched in India in English back in 2017, adding Hindi support three years later. With over 600 million native Hindi speakers worldwide, localizing Alexa+ represents a significant market opportunity. Amazon has already expanded the service to the US, UK, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Austria, France, and Germany.

Pricing follows Amazon's typical model: Prime members access Alexa+ at no additional cost, while non-subscribers pay a monthly fee. The Hindi beta marks Amazon's latest push to compete in India's growing voice assistant market, where local language support remains essential for widespread adoption.
