Mark Zuckerberg has unveiled a new initiative called Meta Compute to oversee the company's massive infrastructure spending. This move follows the announcement that former board member Dina Powell McCormick is joining as president and vice chairman. She will play a central role in this new structure, focusing on partnerships with governments and sovereigns to finance and deploy Meta's growing physical footprint.

Zuckerberg stated Meta plans to build tens of gigawatts of capacity this decade, eventually reaching hundreds of gigawatts. He views this engineering and investment strategy as a key competitive advantage. Santosh Janardhan, head of global engineering, will lead the top-level initiative.

Daniel Gross, a recent hire, will handle long-term capacity and supplier strategy. This announcement comes as Meta aggressively fuels its AI 'superintelligence' ambitions. The company recently secured nuclear power agreements and previously projected $600 billion in AI infrastructure spending by 2028.
