Why Oppo Watch X3 isn't sold in the US

The Oppo Watch X3, a capable Wear OS smartwatch with long battery life and a durable design, is not officially sold in the US because Oppo lacks a consumer hardware business stateside. This means no official sales of its phones, tablets, or wearables, including the Watch X3.

Launching connected devices in the US requires significant investment in distribution, compliance, warranty, and support, which Oppo is unwilling to undertake for a niche product. This is compounded by the fact that the Oppo Watch X3 is nearly identical to the OnePlus Watch 4, a brand that is also withdrawing from the US and Europe.

The US smartwatch market is dominated by the Apple Watch, leaving little room for newcomers. Oppo would face stiff competition from Samsung, Google, and Garmin. Furthermore, the political climate and FCC regulations, influenced by past issues with companies like Huawei, create a risky environment for Chinese tech companies seeking to enter the US market.

While importing the global version of the Oppo Watch X3 from platforms like eBay or AliExpress is possible, it comes with drawbacks. These include limited connectivity (no eSIM), potential import fees, and a lack of local support, warranty, or guaranteed long-term updates. Ultimately, the business case for Oppo to launch the Watch X3 in the US is not currently viable due to cost and risk.
