Twitch streamers can opt out of Amazon genAI training

Twitch has updated its account settings to let streamers opt out of letting Amazon train generative AI models on their content. The setting was previously auto-enabled, which many streamers may not have realized. A support page notes that opting out prevents streams, clips, chat, and other text or images from being fed into Amazon's models for generating or synthesizing text, audio, images, or video.

However, streamers' content may still be used for other AI or machine learning features, such as automated captions. Twitch notes that its Auto Mod tool does not retain user data for generation. Some safety functions are not individually togglable because turning them off for one person would weaken community protection.

To opt out, streamers visit their Twitch settings and disable the "Training for Generative AI" opt-out toggle. If a streamer participates in another streamer's chat, the host's settings determine whether their messages are used for genAI training.
